Kinja'd!!!

Went from delivering on a business route to a home delivery route. Technically I’m working for a different entity within Fedex as well, which means... Ipads! New software! New (older) truck! And most exciting.... New delivery area!

I like my old route, but with all the crackheads wandering some of the streets I spent time on, I never exactly took a break and went for a walk.

Today though I’m doing exactly that! Good ol’ Issaquah highlands. A fairly recent development full of oodles of money. And this place is gorgeous. Built on a plateau overlooking downtown Issaquah, the highlands are also home to some gorgeous homes. I’ve got an hour to kill so I’m wondering through a Cliffside construction site in the hopes of finding a nice view.

One thing that’s pretty neat, this area was a huge income generator back in the window washing days. I actually delivered to one of the homes I had a contract with! Cool place, maaaaassive pain in the ass to ladder up to all the French panes. 1000's of windows in total. Four stories in the back. Ugh.

Kinja'd!!!

AAnyways, I should be getting back to work. I’m not sure yet if this change is a net positive or negative, but I’d say it’s worthwhile just for the change of pace. I think I’m being followed by security, so you’ll have to excuse me!have some pics from the walk.

The Accord coupe is nice.

Anyway, sounds like the commute is a wash because Totem Lake to IH isn’t exactly quick now that I think about it... But you like snow, so it may work out for you.

It’s interesting you have a positive opinion about Issaquah, or the the Highlands. I kind of find the entire area just so... synthetic.

Man I sure feel like a hipster agreeing with you, but I agree with you.

If you aren’t in on the secret, all those neat cars are all shared. Yup, as a general rule in any of those fancy pants towns you can just open the doors and hit the start button. They are supposed to leave the key or fob in the cup holder , glove-box, or armrest but only 10% of the users remember to leave it in there. Just bring it back as clean as when you borrowed it and there shouldn’t be any issues.

My great aunt and uncle lived in Issaquah back in the day but I’m sure it’s a lot different than it was back then. She was retired from Boeing and he was a retired bus driver and they had enough land to keep a pony as well as pea fowl and chickens.

Yeah, people in upper class neighborhoods start to notice when you walk around talking pics of their houses and driveways.  Ask me how I know.

I was driving through a swanky neighborhood a couple of weeks ago and came upon a FedEx truck that had totaled a parked Altima. I’m  guessing the driver was distracted by an iPad or something.

That’s where my cousins grew up. When I was a teen we would go into the real city, cruise the drag bumping Ice Tea and NWA. Bunch of white boys in a CRX and a Toyota truck.

It definitely is. But so is Kirkland, at least now. At least in Issaquah the mountains are right next door and traffic isn’t so bad I want to s lash my own tires. I will miss the food in Lynnwood though....

Highlands to Redmond was 20 min, Mountlake Terrace to Redmond is normally 45ish. I think it’s technically a reverse commute for both of em, but I5 and 405 are just awful in both directions pretty much all the time :(

It could be any number of things. As always, my advice is to treat delivery vehicles like they're carrying the black plague.

The outskirts still have farms and wide-open properties. My grandpa and grandma lived there too. Also Boeing and bus driver... Are we brothers?

Same, but r eplace NWA with Lil Wayne and eminem , the CRX with an EG civic hatch, and the truck.... With likely an even older Datsun truck

Wow, it takes you 45 to get to MLT? I thought of you as more... assertive than that.

It’s a small state! My great aunt, along with my grandmother, started at Boeing during the war. My grandmother came back over here when my grandfather got out but my aunt stayed and rode out the ups and downs until she retired.

35-45 minutes from Redmond to mlt in the morning, leaving a nywhere from 8am to 9:30am.

40-50 minutes on the way back, leaving anywhere from 420 to 530pm.

It's brutal. I'm going 70 when the freeway is open, but.... There are so many spots where it inexplicably clogs up to stop and go, to say nothing of the near-endless accidents. I can only imagine how bad it must be in the reverse direction

Redmond Town Center Exotic car show every Saturday morning in the summer (weather permitting, God forbid the Ferrari’s get a drop of water on ‘em).  Truly awesome, every high end car you can imagine is there.

Yeesh, I didn’t know you left at the two worst times of day... If you started at 6 or 7, you’d be flying both ways.

If it’s any consolation, I live in North Everett, and my cube is in South Everett. So, allegedly I work in the same town  I live in. Takes me 25-40 minutes to drive home in the afternoon. 8 freaking miles!
